First and foremost Graham understands the need for an emphathic and compassionate approach to his work with both clients and supervisees. Graham strongly believes that the relationship in therapy and supervision is critical to the success of any therapeutic work.
Graham is a former trained Nurse with over 20 years’ experience in Mental Health Nursing, General Nursing, HIV/AIDS Nursing, Adult Learning disabilities.
As a former Nurse Lecturer at the University of Wales Swansea, he is an experienced teacher and trainer with specific experience in the field of sexuality and sexual orientation, and also has a long background in teaching Counselling/Psychotherapy in a range of different therapeutic approaches.
Since leaving his teaching role at the University of Wales Swansea, Graham has gained considerable experience in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and training in the voluntary and corporate sectors, Civil Service, and the NHS. He also has 10 years’ experience in the voluntary sector as a volunteer trainer and managerial supervisor, and several years experience of working as a substance misuse therapist.
Graham was also in the last few years the Chairperson of the SWWBABCP (South and West Wales Branch of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies).
As a trained Mindfulness practitioner, Graham integrates this evidence based approach into his work with clients and Supervisees
Graham is trained to Post Graduate level as a Consultative Supervisor, and offers clinical supervision for students and trained therapists from a CBT, Humanistic, or Integrative perspectives. As part of his Supervisory role, Graham is experienced in facilitating therapists in gaining BABCP and BACP accreditation.
Graham initially trained as Integrative therapist and has a particular interest in integrating Transactional Analysis into his C.B.T. practice.
Graham is an LGBT affirmative therapist who has considerable experience of working with individuals and couples who identify as being non heterosexual, and those who identify as Transgender.
